This 16x20 inch painting was inspired and created by compiling a variety of elements and scenes to form one surreal painting. I began this painting by blending together the warm analogous colors for the sky. To bring out the vibrancy of the sun, I left the area blank and went back in with a yellow tint, gradually fading to white to avoid muddiness.
 
For the water, I simply did a gradient wash of blue-green from light to dark, creating the illusion of depth in the ocean. I began mapping out the waves with simplistic shapes, while using detail brushes to bring life and texture to the crashing waves and foam. I proceeded with hints of yellow to accent the color produced by the reflecting sun. 
 
I aimed to create an engaging piece focused more so on the energy and free nature of the water. The overall result was to depict a surreal scene to draw the viewer in and feel emotions of inspiration and liberation.
